Hi, our LS finally decided to take on DL. Without much preparation we got him to 50% with 39 people. The next run we capped out on 64 with 14 BLM. We lost , got him to 38% (less than a minute too) but we had 2 major problems. One problem was , we ultimately wiped to three oblivion smashes in a row. The reason , after watching a tape of the battle, RDM/DRK got killed. So my first question, because your "positioning map" which worked pretty well for us (Xar strategy) did not include RDM , i was unsure where to put them...Today we put them with the Melee down there, which was our downfall as RDM/DRK without utsusemi got killed by AOE Which went through. So i guess up on the BLM cliff it would be much safer; however i am scared DL might move out of range for stun or something. Can you guys please tell me where to position the RDMs to be most safe?
Another thing, we had 6 RDM/DRK. CS lasts 1 minute. Do you suggest letting 2 CS/Stun at once or have a 6er chain. It seems it takes only 1 minute to get him way below 50%. Ive read different opinions on that too. Some LS do 1 , some LS 2 stunners at the same time. But i think our main problem was RDM/DRK dying to AOE and thus leaving us without Stun (meaning more AOE....meanig death).
Also what decided to SC light to reduce Resist for BLM. However we did not get many SC off as we died quickly, so for the next time, do you guys suggest we do SC + Thunder bursts or would you guys think manaburning + Free WS is better in the long run. A real light chain sure takes more time to execute, maybe too much time. I have seen several videos, some SC light + burst , and some just nuke / free WS till he dies.
Our second major problem in both our attemps were the Ying / Yang resummons. Your strategy says quite simply: Have Nin kite them away and just revoke as they lose hate. For us Ying/yang would always go after our BLM and rip them apart, NIN tell me they cannot get hate...We have only 3 NIN, any other strategy? Since hate is tied to DL himself, it would seem Invincible would not work as the PLD would lose hate as well, is that right? We have lot of spare PLD, so if there is a way to use PLD for this id give that a try i think, since NIN will not work for us it seems, and rekilling is something ive never seen in any video.
I would be glad if you guys could answer my questions so we can do it better next time. I know everyone takes a few tries till they kill DL but we started off really good, but then at 40% when RDM/DRK went down it went downhill pretty fast which was a disappointment. :/

i'm not exactly sure how ying and yang work so i can't help you there


but as far as i'm concerned, our most successful battles have been because we go from one chainspell stun to another without many death(or even any?) deaths. the only reason we win at times when DL unleashes several terra slashes and oblivion smashes in a row, is because some are willing to take over even 20 R1s in a row (though this kind of doesn't work much anymore because of the double weakness thing)

I believe there was one time we won with like 1 death mostly cause people didn't die since everything got stunned. We use 1 chainspell stun at a time and it seems to work well enough. But can't expect every try to go that smoothly.

Black Mages ideally will be out of mp by the time Ying and Yang get to them (if they do). With that many stuns and BLMs it may be best to just not use GA spells when they are summoned. 14 BLMs can tear Ying and Yang apart but then again when they die and DL summons almost permanent copies of himself your screwed :/

i think that permanant copy thing we got jewed with was a glitch...but yea, i'd rather not test it out again either Q_Q.

ying and yang hate is really unpredictable i used to be able to get them to follow me, other times not. paladins might help with this as they have more JAs that can get hate instead of having to wait every 30 seconds for provoke.

radav used to put me last in the invincible order and have me stand up by where DL spawns as a last resort to keep DL from going home, but usually i ended up kiting dragons, when they're summoned they spawn up where DL usually is and usually right after they're spawned you can get their attention for long enough to get them some sort of distance away from the battle.


also something i saw one time when we were fighting DL... one of the dragons actually LOST hate and returned to where DL spawns, while we were still fighting DL.. it was during the zombie part of the fight when hate is really screwy, but it was still an interesting thing to see. if it were possible to figure out how to make them lose hate then things would be easy, maybe whoever DL has targetted while summoning is who they have initial hate on and if they die maybe they'll go back...who knows that was all a long time ago :P

additionally, skillchains generally take too long to organize and theres lots of things that can go wrong with them, we generally just have a free-for-all 300TP skillchain/icarus wing SC/Two - hour fest coupled with a timed BLM alliance ES thundaga III (or highest gaIII) since the dragons arent out at teh first nuke volley....at least thats how it was when i was around not sure if things have changed...thats all i know about that fight :Q

We did the ES thundaga III after spirits within was used. The SC idea was merely to reduce the resist of the BLM spells. I am not a BLM, i have filters on of course, how bad is restance to a BLM75? Will free nuke even do much DMG? ES is 10 min recast, we cannot wait 10 min , we will run out of stun ; ;.
Also is the zombie phase really required? We didnt really have any problems on our first try till we ran out of stun..second try smash got through , and that was our end. Problem was everyne reraised but he used it again...so everyone was down AGAIN...I dont know how to handle that...7 RDM/DRK means you *should* have 7 min of CS stun (1min on chainspell). But in reality for us our RDM/DRK died way too soon...maybe put them up on the BLM cliff after all, or let those who are next in stun order wait out of range till its their turn or so?

As a blm, i always get resisted on nukes, ES gives me full damage, i use straight out all damage gear for that, then i switch to all +elemental magic gear, then i don't get resisted as much, but it's still resisted, non-seal thundaga 3 does between like 200-a little below 800 damage usually. Ice day is really nice though, been a couple times we fought DL during ice day, get in the upper range mostly with nukes then. :eek:

Thats why i believe a light SC would help more than soloing WS; on magic burst resistance is not nearly as high as on a free nuke.

I might be able to help you with the blm spells resisted problem.I am not shure how much a bards Threnody lowers elemental stats but a ninja's Ichi level elementals do -30 to whatever element it is lowering and allowes full damage from spells<ex. Suiton Ichi does -30 to the mobs lighting resistance>.The -30 happens to the mob reguardless of its level or magic defence.There is a set time limit to the lowered elemental resistance.A ninja can increase the time limit by useing merit points.I never found out what the time limit is since hurricane Katrina killed my access almost 3 months ago and it is still out(It was one of the many things i was exploring at the time).I have never tryed it but i have herd that you can kill a sky god in less than 10 minuites useing the stragety of having a ninja lower the elemental resistance and having blms nuke with whatever ga 3 element was lowered for full dmg,then move on to the next element.What i usually do at the start of a Dynamis lord fight is run in and use Spirits Within 300 tp then use Icarus wing Spirits Within then use Suiton Ichi (to enshure full dmg from thundaga 3)then Mijin Gakure.The nukes usually start at about the time i am finished casting Suiton Ichi.A ninja can also survive Oblivion Smash and Tetra Smash with Utsusemi alowing him to stay close to DL and not die.The number of shadows lost depends on the ninja's ninjutsu skill level.My level with equipment is almost 300 and i luse only one shadow.If you can manage to get a ninja to use a Ichi spell before the blms nuke with a non ES spell the dmg should go up.;)

Im not as familiar as i should be with the elemental ninjutsu. So using ichi is better than Ni for Dlord? Whats the difference between the 2 as far as resistance and effectiveness?

Ichi is -30 to the element and Ni is -15.The effect is constant no matter what u are fighting(Dynamislord,kirin or a level 1 huge hornet).If you get a full resist and do 0 dmg for a Ichi the -30 element still happens.The reduction to a element also helps a RDM land his debuffs(ex. if a RDM cant seem to land his gravity a ninja can use Doton Ichi and lower the mobs wind by -30 and then the gravity will almost always land since gravity is wind based).I have several other things i am still working on and have a few new things i want to try so i cant say more at this time.I need to test them first.Hope this helps a little.:)

Sounds good. Ive always been using the elemental debuffs but i didnt know the debuff difference between ichi and ni. Looks like ima be unloading more ichis.
