Ok, there is obviously a problem when the mage alliance has members that die on average 8-10 times while the melees are standing around looking pretty.

Instead of going through exactly what the problem is, I'm going to jump straight to the solution. Designate specific people (not just come as whatever job you want) who sub war. All of those people put in their provoke macros, what they are provoking, as an LS chat macro. If you have to tell them five hundred times before they finally get it, explain to these people that have to sub war, to provoke...the sleeping....things. Not, the things you are fighting, but the 10 other things that got linked and are now asleep.

At this stage of the game, having a level 75 job, the concept of provoking something should not be one that is difficult to understand, so I think this shouldn't be too hard for people to grasp.

It used to be that being high level (or high ranking) is a good benchmark for your knowledge about the game. ("Used to be" refers to the period that I first began on Phoenix.) The reason is that before, the dominant culture is efficiency and people who cannot grasp this concept, or failed to live with it by cooperating, are very hard to get to high level.

As the game lives longer, this benchmark is no longer as useful. This is why to recruit good members now, it is better off to give them a few trial runs and see how they perform in the group. Perhaps the evaluation could come from that person's reference member, his/her PT leader and alliance leader, and a verteran member who closely relate to the new member's role (e.g. tanker-WHM)?
