Yeah we were 100% sure that the Effigy Shields wouldn't drop 10000 pieces or shadow items. Sadly we were right.

So, maybe this trick may work after all. Today Ricardon and I were duoing Buffalo in Uleguerand Range for Hides to make our goblin coifs. After about 3 hours and 50 buffalos later, with only 1 hide drop (yay TH4) Ric and I were getting very tired. This is what transpired.

(Ricardon) Dude I'm exhausted. This is gonna be the last one and I gotta log.
(Entemper) Dang... we've only gotten one hide though. Oh wait, I have an idea!
[I then see a Buffalo from afar, click my "found it!" macro, and don't engage.]
(Entemper) Ok...
(Entemper) "These buffalos don't drop hides."
(Ricardon) wtf are you talking about, I solo here all the time!
(Entemper) No no shut up, this is what happened in dynamis yesterday, like twice.
(Ricardon) Uh..
[30 seconds pass, and we kill the buffalo.]
Ricardon defeats the Buffalo.
You find a slice of buffalo meat on the Buffalo.
You find a buffalo hide on the Buffalo.
