posting on Alla about SMN AF2 Horn

This was posted on the Alla. FFXI website. I don't know if this info is true or not, but I was just curious do we fight this Summoner NM (Nebrious) during our normal Dynamis-Xar runs? The reason I ask is if because what this post says is true (AF2 in Dynamis-Xar *only* drops off of specific NMs), we may need to consider which NMs we are skipping past during our Dynamis Lord attempts. I know our primary goal is to defeat Dynamis Lord of course, but for future farming runs, there might be certain NMs in Dynamis-Xar we've ignored so far that we might need to include for the sake of people trying to get AF2 for certain jobs.

Drops only off NM Summoner during Dynamsis Xacabard Nebrious, I believe its named.

You spend 1,000,000 going to Dynamis, there is 15 Main Job NM's are there for all JOBS.

They have a 2-5% drop rate per JOB NM that isn't Affected by Treasure Hunter PERIOD!

In other words you might spend up to 20,000,000-50,000,000 Gil total hosting fee's in Dynamsis-Xacabard just to hope the part drops and also win the Horn equipmentlott vs all those other summoners who want it as well.

AF2 has dropped off "normal" Vanguard demons before reaching the NMs in past runs. I wasn't here for the last Xar run, but in all the previous DL runs, we've killed every demon NM on the way to DL, including the SMN one.

In fact, the AF2 hat that completed Zymurgy's set dropped off a "normal" demon after a run.

Yeah Halon is correct. To get Ying and Yang as well as all the time icons to pop you need to kill all the NMs in the zone. Soo we've done that like 5 times in Xarcabard now. Last run we got BLM hat on a normal mob. As a matter of fact the first few times we went there none of the NMs dropped anything but we still got a few pieces.

I think the way it works is just that if the NMs are gonna drop a piece its only gonna be of that job. Other mobs can drop anything.

The hat dropped off a Kindred's White Mage no less, so that's completely untrue.

you have to remember, if you're reading it on allakasdhfkjasdfl, then it's probley not true. When we get it to drop from a Kindred Paladin, i'll be sure to post it lol.

It works like this, all the regular mobs have the ability to drop any af. The NMs will only drop AF according to their job. We do kill the nms each time we go there. Their drop rate is pertty bad but we have seen a few drop from the NNs.

Ah ic, understood & thanks for the clarifications. I guess since we're killing all the NMs anyway, the claim made on that posting is a moot point regardless.

Not that these factors would probably have any bearing on the drop rate... I did notice that it was Firesday when it dropped, and she was also wearing her AF1 Horn at the time. And riding on the assumption that this post was fairly recent from her trip into dynamis (April 10)... I changed dates on my pc to backtrack my Vana'diel clock (geeky i know) to get the moon phase. If I'm right, it would have dropped during a New Moon.

And did anyone else find it strange that she was wearing her AF1 Spats in the first few pictures, and her AF2 Spats in the fight with DL?

Can I ask why you'd assume a site is completely devoid of any accurate information because it has *some* mistakes?


I check several sites for info, including MT, Alla, Somepage, etc. There's often errors/discrepancies between the sites, so it's worth checking all of them out. Also, if you had read my post carefully, you'd see my question was in response to a posting by a player on Hades who claims that the only drop of this AF2 so far on their server has been off of that specific NM. I didn't think there was any harm asking this question just for clarifiaction. Sorry for any misunderstandings - I actually thought this posting was fairly harmless compared to some of the drama and bickering to the leadership about "unfair" lotting rules/etc. that have been brought up here by some players before.

i think zumi's right, only job NM can drop that job AF. But any regular mob can drop any AF.

Zumi is verry right , we had an AF drop in the verry first group of mobs we fought in dynamis-xarc. If anything it seems like the NMs are less likely to drop af then normal mobs.. have we ever got a NM to drop,syldras maybe.

As far as mistakes , there is bad information then there is way out in left field. Check the DL part he drops dark crystals too XD.

I'd say we've got an AF drop from at least one of the NMs most of the times we've gone. I know SAM, WHM, RDM, DRG AF all dropped from the corresponding NM. I think the 2nd SAM may have as well. The drop rate from those 15 NMs is extremely high for AF drops in Dynamis.
