No, I'm not going to condense the rules down. I'd like to see a condensed version though. With a 50-page rules post, is it any wonder there were problems in today's Jeuno run?

A simple bullet-point list would be fine. Or even better, a rules FAQ or something similar, complete with hyperlinks to relevant sections of the behemoth post.

I'm posting this in a public forum rather than lambasting the rules again in the private forum, because I'd like to hear if others have better ideas on how to look through these rules without going into minutae.

Actually, here's Teorem's FAQ from close to the bottom of the rules post itself (it should be in a separate post):

Frequently Asked Questions

Attendance

Q: Why didn't I get credit for a run?

A: If you did not completely attend a run, the amount of credit you actually receive towards your attendance varies with when you arrived, left, or disconnected. See the rules for a list.

Members found to be abusing our attendance policies (eg., purposely disconnecting right at the point where they would last receive full attendance credit) will not be credited with the attendance they are expecting.

Lotting

Q: What does lotting currency mean?

Lotting "currency" during a run means that you choose to receive an amount of gil based on the amount of currency we receive during a run. You do not actually receive ancient currency by lotting "currency."

Q: I'm lazy. Can't you just send my share of gil to my Delivery Box?

A: That's amazing! I'm lazy too!

Considering that only one slot can be used to send gil to members, the answer is "no." Any gil not picked up after a run by currency lotters is returned to the DynamisBank. Thanks in advance for your future donations!

Lotting Preferences

Q: Do I have to specify a main/upgrade/shadow preference?

A: Yes. This should be done as soon as possible after your entry into DynamisBums.

Memberlist

Q: Why does my free lot AF count towards my AF total?

A: "Free" in the term "free lot" does not mean there are no possible ramifications to receiving the AF. It means that the AF has lessened restrictions on who is able to lot on it.

"Free lot" AF does not count towards your accumulated AF total iff you cannot use the AF you received. If you level into it or your main job is changed to match the AF (even if you cannot yet equip it), it will count towards your AF total and show up in the Memberlist. These AF pieces will also be considered when deciding priority.

Q: Why am I not on the memberlist anymore? Did you kick me out of the linkshell?

A: In the old memberlist, only the active users were displayed. Members that had fallen into inactive status (missed four consecutive runs without some kind of notice) were not listed. It did not mean that these members were removed from the linkshell.

The new memberlist displays both active and inactive users. If you are not in the list, you have missed more than 25 consecutive runs and have been essentially removed from the linskhell roster. In order to attend again, you will need to reapply to the linkshell.

Priority

Q: Why didn't I get priority? I have x runs and y AF!

A: Priority is not *just* a reward for linkshell contribution. It is a means of making up to members who have not been able to receive AF through their own luck at lotting AND have applied themselves towards linkshell service. Most members that have completed a first set of AF with DB will not be recommended for priority of any kind.

A notable exception to this are members that have obtained a number of their AF from another linkshell before joining DB, and have accumulated enough attendance and AF comparable to peers receiving priority.

Priority is also not something that is automatically given once you hit a certain amount of runs. Factors such as how you interact with your peers during runs, how much you contribute, how you perform at your job are all considered IN ADDITION to your accumulated run and AF totals.

If you receive priority, it is your charge to keep it. Priority is not rewarded for an indefinite period of time and can be revoked due to your behavior or lack of attendance/effort in Dynamis.

Q: Isn't that not fair to older members?

A: An older member who has already received a number of AF from Dynamis does not need priority to further that reward. Our rules are very accommodating to those who stay around a long period of time and choose to pursue rewards for different jobs.

Relic Upgrading

Q: Can anyone upgrade a relic weapon?

A: Anyone can choose to upgrade a relic weapon and receive currency towards that effort. However, before you choose to upgrade a relic weapon, you need to strongly consider whether or not you have the means to complete a relic upgrade.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETELY FUND A RELIC WEAPON UPGRADE FROM DYNAMISBUMS CURRENCY ALONE.

Q: Do I have to give the currency I bought from the linkshell back?

A: Yes. Even though currency is "sold" to you, it is still linkshell property. It remains linkshell property until you make your final relic upgrade and returned any currency borrowed in the process.

If you leave the game or leave the linkshell, it is expected that you will return the currency you previously purchased. The linkshell will reimburse you for the cost of the currency.

The FAQ is missing coverage on the most important section: relic armor lotting (i.e. setting your job, the 24-hour wait interval, different tiers of lotting, etc). I think if you add a section on that, it will be complete enough.

It doesnt take that long to just read it >.>
Maybe after people get in they should have to take a test.

Alarial taking my test idea lol.

Teo mentioned if someone doesn't understand or is confused by the rules to just ask. My thought is...you have to read them first to understand or misunderstand them. I think they just aren't getting read. Length is not the problem...I've read them numerous times before I have asked any questions. Pretty stupid to be at fault on something that has been addressed in a thorough resource provided.

Other issues were players lotting on AF and quickly passing just to see what number they got...it is my opinion that this is just bad juice. Also 2 pieces autolotted because of disreguard to again, established rules. The leaders don't have all day to sift through who's supposed to be lotting what etc right in the heat of battle. I'm sure they expect us to be using some sort of sense when it comes to AF lotting/passing. It's just sloppy to see AF drop auto when everyone in the alliances are...well, alive.

There is already a post about joke loting. It is on page 18 of dynamis general chat.In reguard to people not knowing the rules, when i joined DB one of the things you were asked is if you read the rules. With so many new members perhaps one of the questions on the applications should be if they have read the rules.

Sueno is right, you should be reading the rules throughly before you even apply. Even after you are accepted, you have a link in the PM I send you that sends you directly to the rulebook. I even add a line in the PM that says "Please make sure you read the AF and Currency sections.".

No one likes to be told they can't lot something and they have to pass it, and I honestly don't like telling people to pass. The simple solution is to not fuck up in the first place. Don't lot first, ask questions later. Ask questions then lot. The AF is in the pool for 5 minutes, that's ample time to voice your concerns.

Izzy is right, the rules should be read before joining.

It also is a good idea to ask before lotting if you aren't 100% sure you are eligible. There are usually at least 4-5 leaders at every run that could answer any questions you have.

I will be going through the rules in the very, very near future to make clarifications and updates. Some of the information is outdated now.

Since it has been an issue lately, I will be adding a section to make it clearer about lotting under certain circumstances. I definitely won't be making an overall summary of the rules because, as everyone has indicated, I want people to actually read and understand the rules and ask questions if something isn't clear.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE READ THE RULES BEFORE YOU ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT SOMETHING THAT ISN'T CLEAR!

Many of the questions we get are simply because someone didn't actually read the rules, not because they weren't fully understood. For example, the situation of setting a lotting comment for a job other than your main is one that frequently comes up, even though the very first note in the AF lotting section says:

You may only set an AF lotting comment for your main job. Setting a lotting comment for anything other than your observed main job means and entitles you to nothing.

This can be a source of frustration, especially if said question comes in right at the start of the run or when something drops.
