Our Linkshell is very seasoned at all Dynamis zones except we have not attempted Tavnazia. Our leaders say that they don't want to do Tavnazia because you can only take 18 people in and there would be people that would be left out and that would cause problems. However, even when our member turnout is low, and there are only 18 people available for a run, they still won't do Tavnazia. Is this zone really that hard? Or is it not worth the effort? I really want to do this zone, but get shot down every time I bring it up. The strategy from you guys looks pretty straight forward and not that difficult to understand. Any advice?

Winning the zone is fairly hard because Diabolos is a huge fucking prick. Farming the zone is actually quite easy with 18 competent people. Just follow the pulling guide and you should avoid any massive links.

You know how in other zones when you think to yourself, "Well, I could try to pull this eye and maybe the other one won't link."? In Tavnazia, it ALWAYS links. Make as many pulls as you need to to get to where you're trying to go. Any shortcuts are sure to cause a huge link.

Remind your black mages that with only 18 people, they have to be more careful about pulling hate -- especially before the subjobs are unlocked. If your black mages never XPed in an old-fashioned SC/MB style party, they may have some serious adjusting to do.

And on the BLM topic, BLM really have to be good sleepers in this zone. Having a RDM or two to depend on to sleepga stuff isn't gonna cut it. Make sure your BLM are all helping to sleep mobs when they come in and wake up.

ALSO, make sure your melee aren't being huge fucking idiots going RNG/WAR with no defensive capabilities. Sure your WAR sub gave you an extra 200 damage on that WS, but now you're dead and all that damage you coulda done for the 6 mins you're dead/weakened is gone.

Yeah, deaths really hurt with such a low number. If you have never done the zone before, the hardest part I think, will be getting the time extensions. You are really pushed for time and some of the pulls can get pretty big. That's assuming you don't link. Our strategy section should have the two time extensions labeled. Oh, and the bees' pollen gives them hundred fists, so PLD's work really well here and the typical utsusemi/third eye burns you see a lot doesn't fly too well. Everything hits like a ton of bricks too....

At first the zone sucks. But once you can get both time extensions and get comfortable with the zone, it's a ton of fun. Especially the tarus on the top floor ;p (yes, they do mow and mortal ray)

Due to the limited number of 18 ppl in the zone;you might want to setup skillchain/MB(some of our leaders prefer this, while others would rather see solo ws,so decide for yourself what works best for your group(note:Hydra do carnal nightmare and should never be skillchained)).As Izzy pointed out make shure your melee have the correct subjob for whatever you decide;a drk/sam that drops dead after every ws might be funny the first time but by the 5th time no one is laughing. Also the mobs are Dynamis-Xarc lvl so make shure the melee and mages have the needed items to hit/land spells;there is nothing worse then a blm that gets sleepga resisted every time or a sam that misses 10 ws in a row.Crowd control is a must. While some of our pullers have pull Tav without a link on rare occasions;more often then not it is not "if" but "when" you pull a link.Once you do Tav a few times you will no doubt find it as much fun as we have.

Sueno is right about the skillchains as well. If you can organize and pop off skillchains quickly your BLMs are going to love you and the mobs are going to drop dead within seconds.

Thanks for all the help. I'll get back with you and report on how we do.

Most important things:

1. Make sure to aggro every eye you can and wipe the alliance, causing everyone to HP and re-enter.

2. When killing diabolos, you want to make sure at least 2-3 people are lagging when you try and sneak past the NPC diabolos'.

3. Make sure if your wars are /sam, that they never -ever- use Seigan and always open fights with WS.

4. Ensure that if your puller is a war, that he wears Hydra Haubert to ensure he has hate during pulls.

5. Never ever keep RR up.

(j/k on all these ofcourse), good luck with future Tav runs, they are my favorite zones in Dynamis.
